On an overcast Thanksgiving morning, I went to the lagoon expecting solitude, thinking the grey skies would keep people away-’twas not the case. As I walked, I saw others heading farther down the path and felt the quiet pressure to follow, so I did. I stopped at a small rise, hoping for a view, but the fog had swallowed everything- everything except a single Great White Egret. It stood alone, luminous in the stillness. In that moment, a simple thought came to me: just look at what is right in front of you. I did, and in that pause, I found a sense of clarity I had not realized I was seeking.
